“I’m here today to talk about love” were the Frenchman’s seductive opening words at his campaign launch in London this month.

But that’s not the point here. Bet some more.

All this in a sport grappling with the increasing danger of gambling-related match-fixing and with ample examples of gambling-addicted players who frittered away their wealth.

___

Twaddle takes a very dim view of Ginola’s Paddy Power-backed grab for FIFA.

But the targets were our wallets and spending habits, not our hearts. In the UK, which liberalized gambling advertising in 2007, adults’ exposure to gambling commercials on television soared five-fold in eight years to 2012, regulator Ofcom found. So silky as a player for Newcastle and Tottenham; so ridiculous now with his car-crash campaign for the FIFA presidency.

“It’s eyeballs we’re after,” 12Bet executive Rory Anderson, quoted in the Daily Mail, said when the online bookmaker became the name on Hull City’s shirt for this Premier League season.

“It’s an absolute disgrace,” he said in a phone interview. Bet again. “It’s great for Paddy Power. But the mere thought of the gambling industry even attempting to place a stooge at the very top of football makes the prospect of another Blatter term seem perhaps not quite so bad.

We’re talking here about David Ginola. It won’t happen; FIFA’s ethics rules should see to that. That was before online bookmakers offered odds on anything and everything, from match results and goals scored to which team will win the coin toss or take the first corner, and before their relentless advertising.

But gambling advertising wasn’t as in-your-face as now. The increase was three-fold for children aged 4-15.

One of those is Kevin Twaddle, a former player for Motherwell and other Scottish clubs who told his story in the biography, “Life On The Line: How to Lose a Million and So Much More.” He no longer gambles and has delivered talks to other players about the risks.

And that isn’t funny at all.

Imagine, for a moment, a Paddy Power-financed FIFA president. “There’s more passion, more pleasure and more pain.”

Bet. FIFA’s election and ethics rules will almost certainly keep him off the May ballot. Tuning in for results of football betting pools, which offered big jackpots for small stakes, was a Saturday afternoon ritual for many 20th Century English families.

“It just makes like a mockery of football.”

Whoa. In pocketing 250,000 pounds (335,000 euros; US$375,000) from bookmaker Paddy Power for this stunt, Ginola became the latest Trojan horse in the gambling and gaming industry’s creeping and creepy embrace of football.

Sport “matters more when there’s money on it,” it says. Hull against Aston Villa on Feb. That much was clear from the Paddy Power branding.

Sports and gambling have, of course, long gone together, feeding off each other’s success and growth. But I mean you’re talking about one of the biggest, powerfulest jobs in football and all you’re getting to hear about is Paddy Power.”

Ginola has zero chance of unseating Sepp Blatter. Write to him at jleicester@ap.org or follow him at http://twitter.com/johnleicester. It reads like a plug for Fifty Shades of Grey.

That is the message that football, more than most other sports, is mainlining into our homes, helped by names like Ginola and teams lending their cachet, stadiums, jerseys and players to the industry that had cash to splash when the 2008 financial crisis hobbled other sponsors.

PARIS –  Don’t laugh. After Thursday’s passing of the entry deadline, “Team Ginola” should fade away.

And how about this blurb from Sky Bet, title sponsor since 2013 of England’s three divisions below the Premier League. What ever happened to sport for sport’s sake, for the buzz of competition, not a bet? How quaint. There’s nothing funny about the gambling industry’s latest wheeze to sink its teeth even deeper into football and its fans.

Asking your kids to make tea during half-time breaks won’t shield them from the bombardment, not with gambling ads flashing throughout matches on pitch-side light-boards. 10 will pit two Asian online bookmakers against each other. This was about making a splash. Villa’s shirt sponsor is dafabet, a name that works better in Chinese, where “dafa” means “big wealth.” Stoke and Burnley players are billboards for Bet365 and Fun88 (another name that plays on the Chinese word to get rich).

That meant the 32-year-old couldn’t add a second Masters title to the one he won in 2012 but believes it was high time his opponent finally completed the ‘triple crown’.

Robertson failed to recreate the impressive displays that saw him beat Robert Milkins, Ali Carter and Ronnie O’Sullivan to reach the final, as he went down 10-2 to Shaun Murphy at Alexandra Palace.

“If Shaun was maybe a little bit off his game or not quite as ruthless in the balls, then the match probably would have been a lot closer.

Robertson was favourite coming into the match after playing flawless snooker to advance to the final but he looked shell-shocked as he failed to cope with a ruthless display from Murphy.

The Cambridge-based Australian did respond by clinching two of the afternoon session’s final three frames to narrow the deficit to 6-2, but any hopes of a miraculous comeback were soon extinguished.

“The last three frames against Robert Milkins, then against Ali and Ronnie, I played 16 frames of almost perfect snooker and you’re bound to come down a level or two after that,” explained Robertson.

SNOOKER: Neil Robertson admits he was devastated not to replicate his earlier form on the biggest stage after being comprehensively beaten in the Masters final in London.

“It’s very fitting that a player like Shaun has won all three majors,” added Robertson. “Of our generation, I was the first to do it ahead of Mark Selby but now he’s won the Worlds and Shaun has won the Masters.

“The three of us are now trying to win multiple ‘triple crown’ events and the merry-go-round just happened to produce a loss for me this week.

Murphy snatched a tight ninth frame, made 127 in the 10th and notched the next two to secure the biggest margin of victory in a Masters final since the match became best-of-19.

“Sometimes you just have to cop it on the chin and move on to the next match.”

“I’ve played really well getting to the final, it’s just disappointing that I couldn’t quite maintain that same level.”

In truth, the result never looked in doubt as the Englishman flew out of the blocks – breaks of 64, 127 and 76 helping him establish a 5-0 lead..

“I’m really disappointed because no-one wants to play like that in the final but that is just the way snooker is.

He told Simon he thought he did it because he fell into an addiction of gambling.

But Donaghy said betting was more powerful than all of that, and winning was ecstasy.

“In one game you were betting on San Antonio, but you threw their coach Greg Popovich out of the game,” Simon pointed out.

Donaghy was betraying everything he and his family stood for. Why should we believe you?” Simon asked.

And here’s what you may find difficult to believe: Donaghy says that while his betting may have been illegal, his reffing was always honest.

“I tried to put it out of my mind. And in my mind, he needed to be ejected,” Donaghy said.

Asked if betting on the NBA gave him a higher high than betting on other sports, Donaghy said, “I think it gave me a higher high because I was able to predict the outcome of the games. His father had been a respected ref in college basketball; Tim followed in his footsteps and went even further, making it to the NBA.

The NBA’s investigation came to the same surprising conclusion: “It seems plausible to us that Donaghy may not have manipulated games… But that didn’t happen very often: Donaghy claims – and the FBI concurs – that he won 70 to 80 percent of his NBA bets.

“And then you committed the cardinal sin. But he was also living a secret life during the last four years of his 13 year career – he committed a personal foul.

He betrayed the fans and the league by betting on NBA games, including some he was officiating. I could pick a winner 80 percent of the time just knowing what I knew an hour before the game,'” Scala said. And it just evolved from those type of situations to betting on athletic contests.”

Losing their coach cost San Antonio the game and cost Donaghy his bet. We never saw that.”

Copyright 2009 CBS. “I had the opportunity to run up and down the court with the greatest athletes in the world. “And watching the tapes we could see that there was never something outlandish where you could see he called a foul or he omitted a foul because he wanted to see a certain team win. We are unable to contradict the government’s conclusion.”

Donaghy says being a referee was his dream job. You started betting on NBA games including games that you were reffing yourself,” Simon remarked. Donaghy won about 75 percent of his bets, an incredible percentage confirmed by the FBI.

“I didn’t think about the bet during the game. “What were you thinking?”

Now Donaghy speaks out publicly for the first time, telling 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon why he bet on NBA games, how he won so often, and how his world collapsed. I just loved the game of basketball growing up and my goal was to somehow be a part of it.”

“As far as I understand, yes,” Donaghy said.. And what a world it was.

He told Simon he bet on “probably over 100 games,” reffing a lot of those himself.

“It was a dream situation all around,” he added.

“Obviously, I wasn’t thinking to cross that line,” Donaghy said.

“And as far as you know, you were the only ref who was placing bets?” Simon asked.

Asked how that addiction began, Donaghy told Simon, “Playing golf at country clubs and card games at country clubs and people’s houses. A referee in the National Basketball Association, he loved the limelight, was considered one of the NBA’s better refs and was making almost $300,000 a year. And I think when you talk about gambling and the euphoria that comes with it, making winning picks is what excites you.”

That’s right. And I think that that I was able to do that,” Donaghy said.

“When you were reffing a game, didn’t it come to your mind that you’d bet on one team and not on the other?” Simon asked.

“He said, ‘Knowing the information that I had, I didn’t have to do anything on the court to pick a winner. He told us that Donaghy convinced him.

“Because the FBI did a thorough investigation, and even the NBA concluded that I did not fix games in the NBA,” Donaghy replied.

“You’re insisting that your betting did not influence the way you called a game. A 29-year FBI veteran, Special Agent Philip Scala, led the investigation of Donaghy

Based from the earlier reports, there is something to look forward for this year about the Casino DLC release. But, generally, users cannot hear answers from the game developer as of now. Roulette tables will be added and all the iconic GTA V slot machines will be seen, too.

This good news was looked forward by all. Codes were released by some of the fanatics saying that these linked to the new lines from the GTA Online Servers to the Casino DLC.

One thing to consider is the silence made by the game developer to the details of the said DLC for several years. Several images were out online through different leaked information released.

GTA V Casino DLC is one of the most anticipated downloadable updates from Rockstar Games. Like the usual strategy of most of the developing teams, they use their “silence” to make that bang towards the nearing date of launching date to make a more powerful effect to all avid GTA players.

Some of them featured the Casino with a signage, “Coming soon.” Plus, the voice actors revealed that they saying the common phrase, “a new casino.” These clues have been revealed in sequence for the past few months, which is a bit sooner than the last year.

If this will be finally slated for release, a lot of expectations are already posted. That means, everything boils down to a more patient waiting for the official GTA V Casino DLC release date.

.

Because of these continuous releases of itty-bitty information from different users’ posts online, it seemed that Rockstar might have something to surprise everyone. Good news for everyone is that the said DLC might arrive this year.

The Casino DLC might also be available in PC platform since there were reports that the compatibility will coincide to the said version. It might be possible that the Casino DLC will be released this year.

The site for the new Casino location was also stipulated specifically in the Vinewood Park. That means to say that every detail of the area will be much specified and added. Some of them said that it would create an impressive ambience of a real Casino. When it was first announced last 2013, many of their avid fans have been waiting for its official launching

Villas range in size from 600 to 1,000 square-meters and overlook Manila Bay.

Solaire was developed by Bloomberry, a publicly traded company listed on the Philippines Stock Exchange owned by billionaire Enrique Razon, Jr..

Solaire Resort Casino: 1 Solaire Blvd., Entertainment City, Metro Manila, Philippines; +63 (0)2 888 8888; rooms from US$220/night; www.solaireresort.com

Solaire’s 18,000-square-meter casino includes nearly 300 gaming tables for baccarat, blackjack, craps, money wheel, pontoon and roulette, as well as 1,200 slot machines and a 6,000-square-meter VIP gaming salon.

Manila’s newest and most luxurious casino has opened its doors, upping the ante in the Philippines’ drive to compete with Asian gambling hot spots Singapore and Macau.

The US$1.2-billion Solaire Resort Casino, an integrated resort on Manila Bay, is the first of four casino venues being built on prime, reclaimed land as part of a gaming and entertainment complex dubbed Entertainment City.

Guests have access to a 24-hour butler service, private chef, in-suite spa facilities, a home theater and private pool and Jacuzzi.

According to a report in the Macau Daily Times, Solaire is placed well above Manila’s Resorts World, which opened in 2010 just across from the international airport and  quickly became the casino of choice among the country’s high rollers.

“Industry analysts suggest that Solaire is likely to attract 30 percent of the business from Resorts World, particularly at the upper end,” says the report.

Gambling in the Philippines is regulated by government-owned Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), which was established in 1976.

Though the Philippines has over a dozen casinos, the Solaire Resort Casino is the first that puts Manila in a position to compete with the current leading Asian casino cities, Singapore and Macau.

Other Las Vegas-style attractions include an entertainment lounge offering live music.

As for the resort, Solaire has 500 guest rooms, suites and villas as well as 15 dining options
